COLONEL Sanders' secret cookbook has been discovered in a vault in the US and is set to be published online. The manuscript, unearthed by an employee digging through KFC’s archive, is filled with Sanders’ favourite recipes for dishes including omelettes, pancakes, casseroles and pies, along with a hearty serving of homespun advice.
"It was in an envelope," Amy Sherwood, the employee who made the find, said.
"I opened it up and immediately recognised that it was a treasure and a significant discovery."
Though celebrity chefs are now dime-a-dozen, back in the 60s the father of modern fast food claimed he had written "a new kind of book" and that his recipes were "worth more than all the imported recipes, with names an ordinary man or woman can't even pronounce, put together. The company is also considering incorporating some of the new dishes into its restaurant menu.
"We can't wait to share its secrets with KFC fans around the globe," the restaurant chain's CEO Roger Eaton said..
"Colonel Sanders was a lifelong cook and sage and his life lessons are just as powerful and relevant today as they were 40 years ago."
But, there’s one recipe no one is getting their hands on - the Colonel’s handwritten recipe for chicken with 11 secret herbs and spices which will remain locked inside the company’s electronic vault. Along with his take on American culinary classics, Colonel Sanders also offers readers some words of wisdom about life and business.
